.– TIME FOR DEEP SELF-CARE –
We offer distraction-free time in a peaceful, healthy place … time to pause, relax, find your balance, explore self-healing methods, and remember again the best of you.
Our Insight wellness and health retreat program is a fast, effective way to relax, balance and care for yourself in these stress-filled times.
Health and Wellness Retreats are ‘private’, which means no other guests on the property, and one-on-one focus on your unique needs.
In just one day, you can make small changes that can make a big difference in how you relate to the life you have and how to support the change you want.
For a deeper experience, add an overnight stay in a self-contained Garden Cottage, fully catered with nothing to bring. If you are navigating a life reset and need a lot of time to ponder big changes, we can spread the programme over 5 or 6 days.
Gift a health retreat to someone you love (gift voucher info here), or come together to nourish your connection (couples retreat info here), or come alone to spend quality time with your soul.
EXCELLENT Based on 27 reviews Dina Aletrari2024-03-01 I stayed with Arisa and Terrence in their beautiful cottage out in the leafy Tallebudgera for a few nights for a retreat/getaway to reconnect with myself and quiet the noise from everyday life. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed with open arms, warm spiced tea and a comforting aura that surrounds you. Arisa and Terrence are absolutely wonderful, kind and loving souls that genuinely have so much passion for life and for healing others. From meditation, to Pilates, to healing sounds…there is something that will soothe you and bring you back into balance again. The catering is also delicious, fresh and healthy, which adds to the tranquility of the whole experience. The cottage and surrounding gardens are filled with ornaments, crystals, shells and furniture that they have collected from their travels around the world, with more information inside a folder for you to sink in to, while you explore the space. Thank you both for providing me with an amazing experience that I will take with me forever ???? I definitely recommend this experience to anyone and everyone that’s looking for a place to zone out and reconnect with themselves and with nature. Adelle Hanna2024-01-18 literally one of the best experiences of my life. i can not wait to visit the retreat again. both terrence and arisa were beyond lovely. immediately i felt comfortable, they were so welcoming and genuine. the food and teas that arisa made was insane. she really is a great chef. i took more out of the experience than i hoped for and i am so grateful. arisa also squeezed me in last minute - literally 2 days notice - and i am so very grateful for that too. i needed the retreat and it served me exactly how i needed it to and more. thank you both again for the amazing experience and everything you taught me. Jo Vautier2024-01-14 Booked the cottage for 6 nights for a self-retreat. The place is lovely and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The gardens and surrounding bush are so nourishing and beautiful and Arisa and Terrence were kind wonderful hosts. Highly recommend Samantha Blair2023-12-18 I spent ages looking for a retreat experience that seemed ‘me’. The idea that I could go somewhere private and have a program tailored specifically to me was intriguing. I was not disappointed! An amazing mix of wellness, meditation and spiritual insight in a stunning setting. The accommodation is flawless and luxurious - the food abundant and incredible. This is the best investment I have made in myself for a long time. Kylie Wardrop2023-08-23 I was right where I needed to be for this beautiful retreat with Terence and Arisa. I left feeling nourished and inspired and highly recommend the experience. Thank you! goodMix2023-02-15 We thoroughly enjoyed everything! Such a beautiful micro-break, the perfect mix of stillness time & ‘work’ time to come away with a clear mind, insights to ponder & skills to practice. Beautiful people, place, concept - highly recommend, book it! (Oh & the food / art is incredible)! S K2022-11-24 My partner and I had the most enjoyable stay here the past 3 night. The owners are lovely and kind. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The gardens were delightful, with an abundance of wildlife and beautiful artefacts to admire throughout the property. The accomodation was incredibly clean, spacious and well put together. Mariela Mott2022-11-17 I’ve had a fantastic experience at Gold Coast Insight Retreat. Arisa and Terrence are wonderful and very talented in their skills and knowledge. I have no words to describe how grateful I am for making the decision to have this fabulous ME time with them. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to go back. The food is AMZING ❤️ Thank you Arisa and Terrence. You made such a positive difference in my journey. ????❤️✨ I had a magical time! Peggy Dunn2022-11-14 If there are no accidents, then a miracle led me to Arisa and Terrence. I arrived with no expectations, simply wanting to get away from the frenetic pace of my life and the city, to unplug and decompress. The setting is stunning, a true tranquil oasis in the madness that can be the Gold Coast. The Garden Cottage is an Aladdin’s cave of treasures, lovingly collected and curated by Arisa and Terrence over many years of travelling the world. The organic vegan food is amazing, bring your appetite! I spent a day with literally nothing to do, wandering the gardens, walking, reading, meditating, recalibrating before the retreat, and I recommend coming a day early if you can, it really set me up to get the most out of what was for me, a day of healing - mind, heart and body. Arisa and Terrence are an extraordinary team. Through their guidance and wisdom I was able to recognise and recover much of what I’d lost sight of in the busyness of life. I recommend this retreat to anyone and everyone, go with an open mind and heart, but just go.

We offer a context to do just that… time to step back and survey the change unfolding in your life, to reconnect with what you deeply want, and see new ways to respond to life to better support your aspirations.

We see that certain habits of perception and relating lead inevitably to discontent and disconnection from true self and others; like when genuine trauma triggers mental-emotional-behavioural loops of blame, drama, entitlement and obsession.
Part of our service to GCIR retreat guests is an experience of an environment free of all trace of those habits, supporting a measure of re-connection with true self.
We do not facilitate drama – the cycle of persecutor-victim-rescuer has no end, so no matter how real and true it feels, we cannot work with those who manifest drama to disrupt or assert control. We do not intend to diminish the importance of those feelings and beliefs, we are just not qualified and don’t have enough time to work with them in retreats.
We do not engage in debate about what is more real or right; we don’t try and convince you that we know what is right for you; we work with an approach that protects the freedom of everyone to decide for themselves what is most real and true and valuable for them.
We will not waste your time. For us, time is precious. We promise to be on time with all our commitments to you, and to not invite your attention to distractions or irrelevant topics.
We provide lunch and a snack during your retreat, and you self-cater your other meals.
Included in the cottage kitchen are basic breakfast and dinner ingredients for you to serve or cook yourself (muesli, fruit, mylk, pasta and sauce base, all vegan and organic). We can also guide you to pick fresh organic herbs or greens from our garden.
Alternatively you can dine out at any one of the many restaurants within 15 minutes drive.
If you choose to eat in, we ask our guests to either bring only pre-cooked meat, or go vegetarian, during your stay to avoid the smell of cooked meat in the cottage decor. Thank you for your understanding.
We prepare and serve lunch during your retreat, and provide ready-to-eat breakfasts and evening meal(s) in your fridge for you to serve yourself at your leisure; all plant-based, organic, nutritious and delicious. Meals are balanced in proteins, carbs, fibre and the nutrition of fresh home-grown herbs.
We don’t use sugar, and cater for gluten intolerance and food preferences. Everything is organic, and we source a year-round supply of fresh seasonal produce from our garden.
The tarot deck is like a map of the human condition, with cards corresponding to universal life lessons (like learning about impulse control, justice, morality, love, money, time, masculine and feminine principles and many others), and other cards that tell tales of how we grow and evolve.
All tarot decks contain four ‘suits’, describing the journeys to evolve in the mind (swords), the heart (cups), contribution (pentacles) and creativity (wands), plus another 22 cards that make up the ‘major arcana’, or deep story, that maps the universal milestones that all humans eventually encounter on the journey to the fullest possible life.
Tarot emerged several hundred years ago, first as a card game, but soon evolved to become a useful tool to reflect upon the way we play our own game of life.
What is sometimes hard to explain is the way that the cards that appear in each person’s reading are usually so relevant to what is happening in their life. If approached with a curious mind, the cards typically offer new and profoundly useful perspectives on familiar life situations and challenges.
Is Tarot about Fortune-Telling?
Tarot a reputation as being ‘divinatory’ (foretelling future events), and is used by some tarot readers with that expectation in mind. Our approach however is to use tarot to go deeper into the unfolding patterns of the present moment. With a better understanding of how our present-day patterns are already creating our own future, we become empowered to choose to sustain useful patterns, disrupt unhelpful patterns and be inspired to develop new approaches to familiar issues that better align with we want out of life.
Terrence uses the Mythic Tarot deck (based on Greek mythology) by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene.
by Arisa
For me, learning to meditate was like a life raft in the turbulent ocean of my once manic life.
The daily practise of meditation allowed me to bounce around in the swell of my emotions without the stress of drowning.
I became more real and able to live my life more fully.
Rather than being at the whim of unhelpful thought patterns, I discovered ways to navigate emotions by taking responsibility rather than reacting.
I learnt how to disentangle myself from early trauma and beliefs and make healthy decisions.
I discovered creativity I didn’t know I had.
I became a better version of myself, a better person and a better mother.
Most retreat activities take place in a self-contained cottage adjacent to the main building. You can choose to stay in the cottage overnight for one or two nights to add an extra dimension to your retreat experience.
Your options are …
If you choose to stay the night before your retreat, check-in time is 2pm. If you stay after your retreat, check-out time is 11am. Retreat programs run from 10am to 5pm.
We feed you during your retreat (lunch and snacks), but breakfast and dinner is self-catering, which means you need to bring whatever food you wish to prepare for yourself, or be prepared to go out for breakfast and/or dinner. More information about local food options can be found on the FAQ page (opens in new window).
If you book a retreat for two, the cost of your accommodation remains the same (i.e. 2nd person stays for free).
